Edouard BUGINGO is a Food Scientist and Technologist with five years of progressive experience in food production management, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance across Rwanda’s agrifood sector, including fruits and vegetables, beverages, bakery, and dairy value chains. He currently serves as a Research and Education Fellow at Green Institutes and is a Trainee at the Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Cooling and Cold Chain (ACES) under the Train-the-Trainer (ToT) program and he want focuses on postharvest loss reduction in horticulture and dairy value chains, supported by continuous professional development and hands-on industry engagement. Edouard BUGINGO is passionate about sustainable food systems, innovation, and food safety regulation, with a strong commitment to strengthening food security and public health in Africa and beyond. Alongside his career growth, he is working to establish Agrifoods Nexus Ltd, a research and consulting company dedicated to advancing sustainable agrifood innovations.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology from the University of Rwanda, College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (CAVM). Highly motivated and research-driven, Edouard BUGINGO aims to further his education and expertise in sensory evaluation, food chemistry, analytical techniques, and functional food product development. His long-term ambition is to formulate novel food ingredients and products with improved nutritional profiles, enhanced sensory attributes, and superior functionality for industrial applications. He is driven by the goal of creating sustainable, health-promoting foods that reduce food waste, address global nutritional challenges, and advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) especially Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12).Edouard is eager to contribute scientific excellence, innovative thinking, and practical solutions that enhance Rwanda’s and Africa’s competitiveness in the global agrifood sector.
